INFORMATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS

The Commission serves as the only EducationUSA center in Cyprus, certified by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State to provide free, objective and up-to-date information about higher education in the United States.  Our Advisers provide free information sessions, which are repeated on a weekly basis for students interested in studying in the United States.  Students only need to attend one session to feel comfortable with making their own selection of universities and then applying to their selected institutions.  The sessions cover: Selecting Universities, Accreditation, Applying to Universities, Costs & Financial Aid Opportunities, and Pre-departure.  For more information about the sessions, and for the dates of the next sessions visit our Information Sessions section.

Our Educational Advisers are available to meet students at no charge, by appointment, once the students have attended this free 1 ½ hour session.  We are also available to answer your questions; feel free to contact us during our office hours (10:00am to 2:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Thursdays).

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUR STUDENTS

  • The US University Fair which is held once each year in October in Nicosia provides an excellent opportunity for your students interested in studying in the United States to personally meet with US Admissions Officers and/or local alumni representatives.  At the fair they will be able to obtain first hand information about the universities and colleges represented.  For more information about the fair check the US University Fair section.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU

  • High School Counselors Workshop
Each year, the Commission organizes a High School Counselors Workshop.  The workshop goal is to provide both new and more senior high school counselors with information about the US System of Higher Education, updates and trends.  The workshop has typically been offered in November each year during International Education Week.  This year, for the first time we will incorporate the workshop into the Mini-University Fair which will take place on the same day as our University Fair- on October 9th.  The workshop will include informational presentations conducted by experienced US Admissions Officers on topics that you have expressed an interest in hearing about.  You will also have the opportunity to speak with the Admissions Officers to obtain information about US higher education institutions.  For more information feel free to contact us at cfc@fulbright.org.cy or tel: 22669757 or tel: 90392-2271800.
