COMMUNITY COLLEGES

There are over 1,200 community colleges in the United States with 11.6 million enrolled students.  Community colleges offer Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) 2- year degrees as well as technical and vocational programs.

Community Colleges are a good choice for students who are concerned about costs since they are significantly lower in cost than 4-year colleges.  They also have fewer entrance requirements than 4- year colleges.

The best option for students interested in attending a community college is to chose a community college that has an articulation agreement with a 4-year college or university in the area.  That way, once the students complete the two years, (provided that they do well in their studies) they can transfer to the university to complete their 3rd and 4th years and obtain their bachelor's degree.  The chart below gives a summary of the two options.

Students interested in community colleges should attend an undergraduate Information Session at the Cyprus Fulbright Commission.  They must also make sure to check with the Ministry of Education in Cyprus to ensure that the colleges considered are accredited.
