Since 1995, the Cyprus-America Scholarship Program (CASP), a program
administered by the Cyprus Fulbright Commission, has been funding a
bi-communal summer youth camp for Cypriot students. The camp is usually
geared towards students who are 15 and 16 years of age and it takes
place in the United States over the summer for a period of 3 weeks.
Pending the availability of funds and the Board’s approval, this camp is
offered each year. The program is announced in January and interviews
take place during March/April. Applications and instructions for
applying can be found in the links below. Interested students must meet
all the stated criteria in order to apply.
This program is a bi-communal, conflict management camp. Only students
interested in bi-communal dialogue, multicultural understanding,
learning communication and leadership skills, teamwork and follow-on
activities should apply.
Students must have a good command of the English language.

2008 Programs
This year two camps will take
place- both in Denver, Colorado. One is administered by the
Cyprus Fulbright Commission and one is administered by AMIDEAST.
The dates of the Fulbright program are August 5 to August 26, 2008.
The AMIDEAST program dates are June 28 to
July 19, 2008. Once students are chosen for a camp, they
cannot switch to the other camp. Critical Mass Leadership
Education Inc (CMLE) will conduct both programs. Interviews have
been completed. The draw, which will determine the final
selection will take place on April 10 at 3:00pm at the Cyprus
Fulbright Commission on 2 Egypt Avenue, Nicosia. The names of
the selected students will be posted on this page on Friday, April
11.
Summer Academic Term-
Boston University 2008
For the fourth
consecutive year, the Cyprus America Scholarship Program (CASP), a
program administered by the Fulbright Commission is funding a
bi-communal summer academic
term for Cypriot students attending college or university in
Cyprus. Participants will join other U.S. and international
students taking summer courses at an accredited U.S. university in
the United States. Students will be expected to study for 6 - 8
credits during a 6-week summer term. Interested applicants must
submit an application form in person and take an English –TOEFL level test that
will be administered by the Cyprus Fulbright Commission.
Instructions and applications are available here and in
hard copy from the Fulbright office as for January each year. Pending the
availability of funds and the Boards approval, this program is
offered each year.

Selected Students
High School
Counselors' Workshop
The Cyprus Fulbright Commission is
offering a ten day workshop in the United States for Cypriot high school
counselors. Ten counselors will be selected from the Greek Cypriot
community and ten from the Turkish Cypriot community, from either
private or public high schools. Arrangements will be made, by a
sub-contracting organization, for university and college campus visits,
meetings with admission officers, department deans and other appropriate
people who work with U.S. higher educational institutions. The program
will also include social events to offer a U.S. cultural experience.

The High School Counselors Workshop
will take place from June 3 to June 14, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois.
The International Visitors Center of Chicago (IVCCC) will be your
training provider.

Funding for CASP comes from the people of the United States through the
United States Embassy in Nicosia and the Office of Educational and
Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. All expenses are
covered for participation in these programs, with the exception of the
U.S. visa fee and spending money.
